Output to prepress system Archive etc

A QPS Workflow differs according to the job at hand, the type of publication output, the editorial focus, etc. We present on this and the following page a Content-Driven Workflow and a Design-Driven Workflow. We’ve also provided a very detailed workflow (as pdf) to showcase the power and versatility of QPS.

  1. An article assignment containing geometry, publication information, due dates, etc, is checked into QPSDispatchServer by a QuarkCopyDesk user and routed to the intended journalist or journalist  pool.
  2. After the newly assigned article appears in the CopyDesk users’ assignment list, the user checks the article out, writes it and reroutes it to another QuarkCopyDesk user, by checking it in to QuarkDispatch server with the appropriate status.
  3. A QuarkXPress user (graphic artist or page layouter for example) simultaneously opens the page layout and adjusts it, checking it back into the QuarkDispatchServer when done.
  4. The journalist, a QuarkCopyDesk user, to whom the article was routed checks out the article from the QuarkDispatch Server, edits it, and checks it back in without routing to another user. The transaction is recorded, and the earlier version of the article has also been saved.
  5. Content and Layout come together in step 5, when a Quark XPRess user checks out  the edited layout, and attaches the article previously written and reviewed in QuarkCopyDesk, by several journalists in this particular workflow scenario. Once attached, the article flows automatically into the layout.
  6. When a CopyDesk user checks out the article now, a non-editable page picture of the layout, displays geometry as well as the articles, within a Quark Layout. One can see, that the text doesn't fit into it's pre-determind spot,The QuarkCopyDesk user edits the article down to size, and checks the article back into the Quark Dispatch Server
  7. A QuarkXPress user checks out the layout, upates all of the articles that have been worked on during this work phase, including the one we have been speaking about all along. The layout is finalized, made ready for ripping, and sent to the Pre-press department.
  8. In the pre-press department, all of the finished pages are, assembled and prepared for publication. The separations are  made, the final page art is assembled. After the layout has been output, it can be archived by a QuarkDispatch FileManager user,
